Job Description

We're looking for an Accommodation And Community Support Worker to work for our client.

They are Northern Ireland’s leading homeless charity with the vision of a society where everyone has a home, their mission is to end homelessness for people who need their help.
They offer specialist support services in Belfast and throughout Northern Ireland including homelessness prevention, accommodation services, health, well-being and practice development and young people's support services.

Please note:  In this position you'll be needed to work some weekends, and occasionally some unsociable hours. Full details of how this will work will be revealed at interview.

Responsibilities:
- Providing effective 24-hour support to the clients accessing our services, i.e., hostels, family and remote support units
- Ensuring the needs of service users are effectively met – promoting independence through support, development and progression
- Undertaking an assessment of a service users’ needs and risk to ascertain intervention level required
- Liaising with external agencies where appropriate, to ensure co-ordination and integration of services, and maximise opportunities
- Ensuring the client is involved in and consulted on all aspects of their support where possible
- Acting as an advocate, providing support to and on behalf of clients; attend appeals or tribunals; liaise with GPS, other healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies
- Participating positively in regular meetings with your supervisor by providing any information requested and working co-operatively
- Maintaining effectively all recording systems employed by the service, including financial transactions and petty cash
- Contributing to the physical cleanliness and general condition including all elements relating to the health and safety of the hostel facilities


- Participating in the shift rota, including nights and weekends, to ensure the provision of 24-hour support and provide cover at other sites if and when required

Requirements:
Experience of supporting people with complex and multiple needs within a residential setting
Additional experience of areas such as:
• homelessness prevention
• substance misuse
• offending
• mental health
• young people

- Further experience of managing client specific risks and the management of support plans
- A high level of it competence including the MS Office package
- Working knowledge of a client recording system, ideally OSKA
- A NISCC registration or willing to become registered if appointed and be willing to be subject to Access NI checks

The Package:
- Basic salary:  £17,865 - £20,302 per annum
