The Role

We are seeking a versatile Technical Development Lead to provide architectural guidance and direction to join our clients growing team, contributing to our ongoing disruption in the industry.

 

Position: Technical Development Lead

Location: This is a remote role, however the successful candidate will need to be able to commute to internal monthly meetings in Belfast and Dublin.

Customer vs Internal Facing: Primarily internal, occasional engagement with clients in security & technical solutions.

Term: Full-time

 

Technologies Our Client Uses:

Onsite Hardware Management:

  • Routers
  • Environmental sensors

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will lead a team using these technologies daily and provide direction in the following areas:

  • Software deployment and testing pipelines
  • Managing IoT data at scale, especially using DynamoDB
  • Architecting for AWS
  • Designing cloud-based apps for performance and cost control
  • Security architecture
  • Securing distributed servers

 

Qualifications:

Hands-on experience is valued more than qualifications. Our client prefers a generalist with extensive experience over someone overly specialised. They seek a tech enthusiast continuously learning about new technologies for at least 5 years, with critical experience in integrating APIs.

  • Collaborate with sales team to qualify client needs and build client confidence through video calls.
  • Visit client buildings to identify energy savings, assess suitability for autonomous HVAC solutions, and calculate carbon reduction.
  • Specify optimal products and solutions in collaboration with internal team and external partners.
  • Create client reports outlining recommended actions, investment costs, payback periods, and carbon reduction roadmap.
  • Support 24/7 Monitoring Team and provide Level 2 support and insights into building performance issues as required.
  • Manage on-site contractors according to project plans.

Requirements:

  • Energy auditing background or related technical skills, with energy consultancy experience.
  • Proficiency in online cloud-based reporting tools, metering, monitoring, and energy management.
  • Experience using Power BI
  • Previous experience as a qualified Electrician, with installation and surveying work would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with HVAC equipment and BMS Control Systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, multitasking, and willingness to travel.
  • Full UK driving license, along with Safe Pass Certification.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design and construct solutions that make our customers' buildings smarter.
  •  
  • Install and maintain IoT Energy and Air Quality Sensors.
  • Configure, mount, and install network equipment, including Wi-Fi access points, modems, switches, routers, cabling, access controllers, and cataloguers.
  • Install broadband connections, including DSL and FTTC splitters, wiring, and modems.
  • Test, install, and terminate CAT5/CAT6/Fibre cabling.
  • Diagnose faults both remotely and on-site.
  • Service and replace faulty equipment.
  • Collaborate with customers in both pre-sale and build/maintain roles to fully understand their requirements and design suitable commercial solutions.
  • Report customer feedback and potential product requests.
  • Create and take ownership of technical documentation and manuals.
  • Monitor site performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage customer helpdesk tickets, finding quick and appropriate solutions to live problems.
  • Maintain inventory and upcoming builds to ensure the right equipment and spare levels are available.
  • Follow internal processes and make process change recommendations as needed.
  • Contribute to the strategic growth of our solutions portfolio.

Required Skills

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • In-depth knowledge of common internet equipment, including modems, routers, APs, and the ability to perform detailed configuration tasks.
