The Opportunity: With over 1,000 members and an annual food & beverage turnover exceeding £600k, Shandon Park Golf Club is seeking a highly organized and experienced Hospitality Manager to join our Senior Management Team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our food and beverage services, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the food and beverage service team.
  • Handle stock control, cash management, and financial oversight.
  • Oversee staff performance and development.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service.
  • Organize and execute club and private events efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, legislative, and security regulations.
  • Participate in Bar & Restaurant Committee meetings.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments within the club.

About You:

You are a perfect fit if you have:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar managerial role.
  • Strong managerial skills, clear communication, and exceptional organizational abilities.
  • Experience in staff training, event planning, and stock control.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in MS Works, EPOS & CRM Software systems.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

JOB TITLE:    Greenkeeper

DEPARTMENT:  Greens’

REPORTS TO:   Head Greenkeeper who in turn reports to the General Manager

JOB PURPOSE:   To carry out routine golf course maintenance tasks as directed by either the Head Greenkeeper or Deputy Head Greenkeeper, ensuring that the course is always presented in the best possible condition, offering a consistent challenge and an enjoyable experience to golfers.

CONTRACT:    This is a full-time position (average 37.5 hours per week, excluding lunch breaks) and the post holder will be expected to work as golf course needs dictate including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Working hours are 7.30 – 3.30pm in winter months and 6.30-3.30pm in the summer months. Finish time at 12.30pm on Fridays.

DUTIES / TASKS:  The tasks listed in this job description are intended to give an indication of the duties required, it is not an exhaustive list and a willingness to undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required is expected.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • One year’s previous experience working as a greenkeeper in a similar style golf course.

 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Two year’s previous experience working as a greenkeeper in a similar style golf course.
  • NVQ Level 2 or above in relevant subject
  • PA1 / PA6 Using Pesticides Safely (Spraying)

SALARY:

MAIN DUTIES / TASKS:

  • Cut all playing surfaces, change holes, move markers, rake bunkers, and spray for weeds to ensure that the course is at all times presented in the best possible condition.
  • Apply top dressing and fertilizer.
  • Operate grass cutting machinery safely and effectively, care and maintenance of machinery and the reporting of loss or damage to line manager according to policy and procedure.
  • Mowing turf using tractors, ride-on machines and specialist hand mowers.
  • Treating turf to ensure consistent playing surfaces.
  • Undertake turf repairs and renovation duties as and when necessary.
  • Use environmentally friendly treatments to control weeds, fungal diseases and pests when instructed to do so by Course Manager or Lead Greenkeeper
  • Remove early morning dew and debris from the greens.
  • Repair wear and tear caused by golfers and animals such as moles and rabbits.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective operation and safe handling of all chemicals following Shandon Park policies and procedures.
  • Renovating and maintaining bunkers and other hazards such as water features
  • Responding to enquiries and dealing with any golfers in line with current
  • responsibilities and management guidance
  • Ensure the efficient and effective operation and safe handling of all machinery and equipment following Shandon Park policy and procedure.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and assignments as required.
  • Adherence to all Shandon Park policies and procedures.
  • To work within all Shandon Park Greenkeeping health & safety, COSHH and Risk Assessment guidelines.

We offer full and part time positions, over 7 days per week and 3-5 shifts. At Shandon Park we recognise the need for a healthy work-life balance. There are rarely late nights, and you can expect to finish around 11.30pm at the weekend and 10.30pm during the week. During the golfing season they have an active social calendar with many fun events for our members and so a flexible approach to being able to work at these events is a requirement.

The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient running of the drink & food service operations within the Golf Club. This position is ideally suited to a applicants with at least two year of experience and some food knowledge.

Responsibilities:
Assist in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our members and guests.

  • Meet, greet, and serve members and their guests in a polite, friendly, speedy, and professional manner.
  • Change kegs, take in deliveries and restock the bar
  • Serve behind the bar and take food and beverage orders on the floor when required
  • Ensure efficient and safe delivery of all food and beverage orders.
  • Set up, clear, and promptly clean tables after use.
  • Ensure the restaurant and bar areas are clean and well presented at all times.
  • Assist in the set up and preparation, and provide service duties for functions as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum  2 years working in a similar environment
  • Experience of working with an EPOS till system with accurate and efficient cash handling skills 
  • High standard of personal presentation
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable)
